Why do we conduct background checks on all of our volunteers?

There are several reasons but the top two are:

Safety

Safety is one of our top priorities. We want our volunteers and the people we help to feel safe. Safety starts with making sure that our volunteers are not dangerous or predatory people. Requiring a criminal background check for volunteers gives us the information we need to help ensure that safety is maintained within our programs and opportunities.

Trust

Volunteers, staff, and the neighborhoods we work with can know that every approved volunteer in the Volunteer Network has passed a background check. As a result, volunteers will feel more at ease and confident about the work that they are doing and the clients will know we have worked hard to maintain their trust.
